![]() ![]() She is pregnant, but is apprehensive to tell her husband as he is against having children. Verne's wife Maggie accompanies him on the trip. Robert Verne accepts a job from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to write a report about a dispute between a logging operation and a Native American tribe near the Androscoggin River or Ossipee river in Maine. While searching for lost lumberjacks in Maine, three members of a search-and-rescue team are killed by an unseen force. ![]() Set along the Androscoggin or Ossipee River, the film follows an environmental agent and his wife filing a report on a paper mill in the river, not knowing that the paper mill's waste made a local bear mutate, causing the bear to run amok in the wilderness.Ī novelization of the film, written by Seltzer as well, was also published, with the tagline "A Story of Unrelenting Terror". It stars Robert Foxworth, Talia Shire and Armand Assante. Nice one, Ms Eleniak, no skin really, but a deliciously evil outing.Prophecy is a 1979 American science fiction monster horror-thriller film directed by John Frankenheimer and written by David Seltzer. On another point, these former Baywatch girls, are a pretty dab hand at playing these kinds of things, since Nicole Eggert, also formerly of Baywatch, plays a deadly but sexy femme fatale in the rare erotic thriller, Blown Away, and appears nude. It's the kind of film you can watch again and again and stick on late one night. Nonetheless, I love these films with femme fatales and female villians and Erika's sinister teacher was great fun. There is a fun scene where she gets him to help with an injured foot (he's a doctor in the film), dressed in some lingerie, but it is unfortunately a rather brief scene and doesn't really go anywhere, which I thought a shame. I think it could have done with a bit more sexual manipulation and seduction on Erika's part, towards the husband, but maybe it wasn't needed. There is some delicious manipulation and Erika obviously must have relished playing a villian, since they usually have the most fun and often steal the show, (think something like The Hand That Rocks The Cradle and you get the idea, De Mornay stole the show there too). There is no point in going into the plot, except to say that it is a teacher who has a shady past and a psychotic history, which remains a mystery throughout, who slips into the lives of a family by offering to tutor the daughter privately. It's another of those thrillers that does not get a wide distribution and may never see a blu ray, but it gave Erika Eleniak a chance to test her chops and play a villian.
